Write a Body Positive Letter to your Past Self
Dear 17 year old me,
It’s Valentine’s Day, and you’re wondering why you’re spending it alone. You think that, because you haven’t got a date or someone confessing their undying love for you, it spells the end of the world.
Maybe for a seventeen year old, it does. But I’m writing to tell you that the sun didn’t implode, the ground didn’t crumble under your feet, hell didn’t freeze over, because you don’t have a romantic V Day.
It’s something that takes a while to realise it, but romance shouldn’t just be for one day. Romance should be something that fills your life every day, regardless of whether consumerism dedicates 24 miserable hours in February to the celebration. Why would you want to put yourself through that?
My message to you today is this; you are fantastic. You’re pretty, and funny, and incredibly intelligent. These are things you don’t agree with, I know, but they’re true. Your relationship status has nothing on these facts. Stop worrying.
When you realise that you don’t have to have a guy in your life to define yourself, you’ll become a lot more confident. Your self-worth isn’t based on one guy who thinks you’re attractive.
Hint; very soon, you’ve got a big break coming your way for your political career. Start dressing more appropriately and networking, because things will be looking up over the next few months. See? No man, but still a great opportunity.
Never forget that even though you don’t love yourself, you always have people who love you, even if they are just your family. And, now, me.
